9 Things to Make and Sell for Extra Cash.

If you’re not particularly happy in your job, or you feel like you could be making more money (but can’t leave the security of a regular paycheck), it’s time to think about how to make some extra cash!

Making extra money doesn’t have to be “nickle and dime” type stuff. You could easily do something that brings in much more than that!

Before I started blogging, I did any number of things to make ends meet. From sewing and selling handbags, to making and selling skincare products. Believe me, I’ve done it all.

Each of those endeavors helped me to keep my head above water financially, and I’m thankful that I was able to do each and every one.

Here are 9 Things to Make and Sell for Extra Cash!

Baked Goods:

Who doesn’t love cakes and pies?

If you love to bake, this is a great way for you to make some extra dough (no pun intended).

You could come up with a new type of cookie or brownie, etc. and sell it!

Or…coffee shops carry an array of baked treats for their customers to devour with their morning coffee. You could easily bake loaves and muffins or whatever for your local coffee shop, to keep cash in your pocket, and your bank account!

Art and Home Decor:

We love having art in our living room or office space. Art has a way of transforming a ‘hum drum’ space, into somewhere that we actually want to spend our time.

From pottery and painting, to your own style of art projects, this is a great way to make some extra dough. Great places to sell those projects include online Etsy or Ebay. If you’re the ‘social’ type, try your neighborhood craft fair or flea market!

I love candles, but the ones I like can be kind of pricey to buy (shocker). So I used to make them from scratch.

Getting the raw ‘ingredients’ isn’t really expensive, and you can add a ‘twist’ to your candles by personalizing them to your customer’s tastes.

You can also make candles with different colors and shapes. You can make great coin making and selling your candle creations online, or again, at your neighborhood craft fair or flea / farmer’s market. Take a peek at some of those cool craft websites, to get some creative ideas.

If sewing is your thing, there are any number of items you can make, using some fabric and your sewing machine. Again, Etsy is a great place to sell your creations. But if you’d rather sell face to face, do a Google search for local craft type fairs in your area. They’re a great way to get out and meet your customers!

Knitting or Crochet:

Knitting or crocheting items like sweaters, booties, blankets, etc. is a fantastic way to make extra money.

In addition, another way to capitalize on your skill for knitting and crocheting, is to create an item, then sell the pattern as a digital download to those who’d rather make, than buy the product.

This is an amazing way to create something once, and get paid for it over and over again!

Soap Making:

Making your own soap has turned into a major deal in the last few years, because it allows you to customize every aspect of your product.

I got into soap making when my mom came for a visit, and found a soap / skin care product making class to join. I sat in on one of the classes while she was there, and it totally hooked me!

Yes…I’ve tried my hand at making and selling jewelry as well. I specialized in earrings, but you can choose any type of jewelry you like to make and sell. Everything from beaded bracelets, to chandelier earrings can help you keep some dough in your pockets 🙂

Writing and Selling e-Books:

You can write about anything you’re good at, load it to a site like Amazon and sell it.

It’s that simple.

If fiction is your fancy, put those creative stories into book form! There are more than a few success stories that come out of the task of self-publishing. You could be next!

Skin Care Products:

Making your own skin care products isn’t nearly as difficult as it sounds!

For this idea, you can go one of two routes; you can make your own products from scratch, or you can do what’s called “private labelling”.

Private labelling your products takes an enormous part of the grunt work out of producing those products.

With private label services, you can simply order a ‘no name’ product that you like (lotion, soap, etc.), and repackage and relabel it as your own brand! It’s totally legit, and many of the big brands are doing it!

Those are my top 9 things to make and sell for extra cash. Pick one, and get moving!

Peace! 🙂
